“ZAIN” Sponsors “the Sudanese Edition” of the French International Cyclists Tour

Cooperation with the French Embassy in Khartoum, and the Sudanese Cyclists Union “ZAIN” Sponsors “the Sudanese Edition” of the French International Cyclists Tour Amidst a massive attendance from the public, fronted by Hashim Haroun, Head of the Sudanese Olympic Committee, and a number of leading sports and Olympic  Unions figures, and under the Sponsorship of the Sudanese Company for Tele-Communications “ZAIN” , Khartoum witnessed the first Amateurs Cyclist Tour to be organized by the Sudanese Cyclists Union, in Co-Operation with the French Embassy in Khartoum, in synchronicity with the most famous race in the world: the Tour de France, in its 104th edition. The event commenced in the morning of Saturday the 1st of July, with the participation of 50 amateurs among whom there were 15 female cyclists, racing across a length of 104 kilometres. Sudanese Cyclist Suliaman Habta won First Place, traversing the distance in 1 hour and 38 minutes, while the First Place among the ladies was won by the Sudanese Champion Arafa Mubarak, crossing the distance in an hour and 45 minutes. The French Embassy extended invitations and booked flights for the winners to attend the Tour de France which was commenced in the same day as the Khartoum Race, and is scheduled to continue until July the 23rd of 2017. Head of the Sudanese Olympic Committee Hashim Haroon commended “ZAIN’s” sponsoring of the first Cyclists’ Tour in Sudan, saying that “this sponsorship affirms the strong emotional connection between “ZAIN” and the athletic community, thus enhancing connectedness and creating an athletic atmosphere for a healthy and vibrant society. Haroon also saluted the overseers of the Company and the various Olympic Unions, and invited all to contribute to elevate the level of athletic activity in the Country. He also announced during the prize distributing ceremony the Olympic Committee’s endeavor to organize Cyclists’s Competitions in a more broadened manner throughout the Country. El-Tayyib Ali Farh, Director of Media Communications at “ZAIN” Corporation, confirmed the Company’s continued support of the Athletic Sector and its encouragement of deep-rooted sports-activities such Cyclists’ races, which are considered among the oldest of Olympic Competitions, and said that in Sudan’s appropriating the model of the Tour de France for Cyclists there is a great opportunity to introduce the World to the Historic Heritage and vast diversity which Sudan enjoys. Farah commended the Sudanese Olympic Committee on its contribution in supporting various athletic activities, and gave a word of thanks to the Sudanese Cyclists Union and to the French Embassy, for granting “ZAIN” this opportunity to sponsor this great event. It is worthy of mention that the French Embassy in Khartoum, sponsors the Francophone Cyclists Race, and that this year, “ZAIN” participated in sponsoring this Race in concurrence with the 104th Edition of Tour de France, which is one of the most prestigious Racing Events and in which scores of athletes from around the World take part.
